Nettle Studios started the way all great ideas do—with a couple of artisan pizzas, some hot honey, and a late-night conversation among friends. We wanted to make clothes that felt as cool and unique as the people wearing them—pieces that didn’t compromise on ethics, sustainability, or a strong sense of personal style. Over the years, Nettle has grown from a tiny in-house operation into a small but mighty team of creatives and professionals, all working together to bring our vision to life. We’ve learned, experimented, and refined our craft along the way, embracing change while staying true to our original mission. Today, Alex is the sole owner of Nettle Studios, leading a team dedicated to making slow fashion more accessible and exciting. We’ve expanded beyond our original linen staples into denim, twill, cotton, lamé, and beyond—continuously searching for new textures and fabrics that inspire fresh designs. Our process has also evolved: while we started by cutting and sewing everything in-house, we now collaborate sustainably with local dye houses, pattern makers, fit models, and cut-and-sew facilities—all while still maintaining the heart and hands-on approach that built Nettle in the first place. Every piece is thoughtfully designed, from the initial sketch to the final stitch, ensuring that it reflects our commitment to creativity and craftsmanship. Our processes take time—from sourcing deadstock fabrics to creating custom-dyed colors and denim washes. What might be a logistical nightmare for big companies that prioritize profit over process is exactly what keeps us connected to our roots. Collaboration and experimentation have always been at the heart of Nettle, and we believe that putting time and care into every step of our production is what gives real meaning to phrases like "small-batch" and "slow fashion." We create practical essentials that are anything but ordinary—each piece is a testament to the artistry and intention behind truly sustainable fashion. OUR FIT & SIZING We believe that sizing should be as thoughtful as design. Our OS (oversized) fit is named that way intentionally—because no single garment is truly "one size fits all." We’ve expanded our inclusive size range from XS to 4XL, fine-tuned our inseams for a better fit, and spent years gathering feedback to refine every piece. Each new design is tested, adjusted, and reworked to ensure a balance of comfort and style. Our goal is to make clothing that moves with you, pieces that you’ll reach for again and again because they simply feel right.
